Nail Cocktail: July

Right now, layering nail polishes is in, and various brands are making it super easy to do with 'sets' of polishes that can be used together. Whether you're checking out Ciaté's collection of awesome polish combos, or layering a glittery peach over your favorite cream, many people are pushing the boundaries of the standard single color application. But who says that you need to wear glitter or neon to mix it up?

I've decided to start posting different nail polish 'cocktails' I try once a month.

What inspired me to layer nail polishes was a friend of mine that I worked with last summer. He told me that his favorite manicure was a combination of two colors, 1 layer of each. It took me until this summer to finally try it, but I gave layering a shot, and it's so fun!

So, my Nail Cocktail of the month for July is:

The Sophisticate

2 parts Essie's 'Marshmallow'
1 part Essie's 'Vanity Fairest'

It's light enough that it won't be as noticeable when it first begins to chip, so it's perfect for a longer stretch between nail polish changes.

Start with one coat of your favorite base (I use Deborah Lippman's 'Hard Rock: Hydrating Nail Hardener'). Add 2 coats of Essie's 'Marshmallow,' and finish the color with a swipe of Essie's 'Vanity Fairest.' Add a dash of your top coat to complete your cocktail (I use O.P.I's 'Start-to-Finish').

Ét voila! Rock a sophisticated, easy manicure and stress less about chipping-disasters.

Keep wandering, and look out for my Nail Cocktail for August!
